PGA TOUR player Jason Bohn of Acworth, Ga., posted 65-70 to finish at 7-under 135 and earn medalist honors. Nationwide player and 2003 U.S. Amateur runner-up Casey Wittenberg of Memphis, Tenn., finished one stroke back, carding 68-68. Local club professional Tim Weinhart of Alpharetta, Ga., who teaches at The Standard Club in Johns Creek, earned a spot in the U.S. Open for the first time in his career, nabbing the final qualifying spot with a 137 (69-68).
Nationwide Tour player James Love of Canada fired a 66 in the first round, then followed up with a 72 to earn first alternate. James White of Acworth, who just graduated from Georgia Tech, grabbed the second alternate spot at 1-under 141.
The River Club played to 7,089 yards and a par 71.
The 112th U.S. Open Championship will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., June 11-17. Entries were open to any professional and to amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 1.4. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
