Notes:

Three Georgia amateurs picked up the three qualifying spots for the U.S. Senior Open at Atlanta National Golf Club.  Doug Hanzel of Savannah qualified for the second-straight year and earned medalist honors at 2-under-par 70. Jack Hall of Sea Island and Bob Royak of Alpharetta both posted 71s to earn the other qualifying spots.  Both have qualified for the Senior Open for the first time, and Royak, 50, qualified in his first year of eligibility.

 

There was a playoff among the three players tied at 72 for the first and second alternate positions. Amateur Jack Larkin of Atlanta parred the first playoff hole (18) to claim first alternate. David Rummels of West Branch, Iowa, and Danny Edwards of Scottsdale, Ariz., went four holes in a playoff for second alternate before Edwards withdrew, giving Rummels the spot.

 

Atlanta National played to 6,880 yards and a par of 72.

 

The 33rd annual U.S. Senior Open Championship will be held at Indianwood Golf and Country Club in Lake Orion, Mich., July 12-15, 2012.  Entries were open to any professional, or any amateur with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 3.4, who turns 50 on or before July 12. The U.S. Senior Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
