Dalton G&CC Wins Georgia Team Championship
STATHAM, Ga. --- Dalton Golf & Country Club wins their third Georgia Team Championship with a final score of 15-under-par 345 (133-212). They finished three strokes ahead of Houston Lake Country Club in Perry, who earned runner-up honors at 12-under-par 348 (131-217). The 21st annual competition took place at The Georgia Club, November 2-3.
Dalton trailed Houston Lake by two strokes after the four-ball format in the opening round.
In Sunday's final round, where the best three-of-four 18-hole scores counted towards the team score, Dalton posted a 4-under-par 212, courtesy of a 2-under-par 70 from Brian Owens and a pair of 71s from David Noll, Jr., and Chase Jones. The fourth member of Dalton's team, Brandon Kimmerling, carded a 76. Houston Lake finished at 1-over-par 217 for the day, counting a 67 from Stan Gann, Jr., a 73 from Shawn Hodge and a 77 from Mitch Greer. Combined with totals from day one, Dalton finished at 345 to win the title, while Houston Lake finished at 348. The host team, The Georgia Club in Statham, finished in third place at 349, highlighted by a 65 from David Mackey.
Defending champion Cartersville Country Club tied for fourth with Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth at 350. The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta finished in sixth at 352, while Marietta Country Club in Kennesaw and Chicopee Woods Golf Course in Gainesville tied for seventh with a score of 356.
The Georgia Club's Red and Black nines played to 6,929 yards and a par 72.
The Georgia Team Championship is conducted by the Georgia State Golf Association. Entries were open to male amateur golfers who are Georgia residents and members of a GSGA Member Club. A club official must have authorized the team's entry, and entries were accepted on a first-come, first-served basis up to a full field of 30 teams.
