Notes:
Georgia Tech junior golfer Anders Albertson of Woodstock, Ga., finished as medalist after firing a 7-under-par 133 (66-67) to earn a spot in the U.S. Amateur Championship at a 36-hole qualifier at Capital City Club-Crabapple in Woodstock. Two of his Yellow Jacket teammates, senior Seth Reeves of Duluth, Ga., and junior Oliver Schniederjans of Power Springs, Ga., also earned automatic spots into the Championship. Reeves posted a 5-under-par 135 (66-69) score and Schniederjans a 2-under-par 138 (68-70). Scott Strohmeyer of Tuscaloosa, Ala., who plays golf at the University of Alabama, qualified as well, matching Schniederjans' 2-under-par 138 (68-70).

Two players, Victor Perez of France and Scott Wolfes of St. Simons Island, tied at 1-under-par 139, so a playoff was needed to determine the final automatic spot into the Championship and the first alternate position. Both Perez, who plays golf at the University of New Mexico, and Wolfes, a member of Georgia Southern University's program and winner of the 2009 and 2010 Georgia Junior Championship, made par on the first playoff hole (#17). Both would then bogey the second playoff hole (#18), make par on the third playoff hole (#17) and make par on the fourth playoff hole (#18). Finally on the fifth playoff hole (#17), Wolfes birdied to clinch the final automatic spot into the U.S. Amateur Championship, while Perez finished as first alternate.

Andrew Klasing of Charlotte, N.C., (72-68), Michael Motz of Milton, Ga., (72-68), and Jacob Tilton of Evans, Ga., (68-72) finished the 36-hole qualifier tied at even-par 140. These three players returned to the 17th hole for a playoff, and with pars from Klasing and Tilton and a bogey from Motz, Klasing and Tilton moved on to the second playoff hole (#18). Tilton saved par on 18 to clinch the second alternate spot.

Capital City Club-Crabapple was set to 7,076 yards in round one and 7,185 yards for the final round and a par of 70. A field of 132 players competed in the qualifier, with 48 players advancing at 4-over-par 74 to the final round after the 18-hole cut. This was the first of two U.S. Amateur qualifiers in Georgia. The second will be at Athens Country Club in Athens, Ga., July 29-30.

Qualifiers advance to the 113th annual U.S. Amateur Championship, which will be held at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., August 12-18, 2013. Entries were open to any amateur golfer with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 2.4. The U.S. Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA.
