Notes:
There was a playoff among three players tied at 143 – Zach Sucher of Mobile, Ala., Alex Frankel of Atlanta, Ga. and Carlton Forrester of Birmingham, Ala. Sucher birdied the first hole of the playoff to secure the fifth qualifying spot. Forrester recorded a birdie on the second playoff hole to capture the sixth and final qualifying spot. Frankel's par left him with the first alternate position.


At 144, Mel Mendenhall of Marietta, Ga. and Gary Melampy of Norcross, Ga., played off for the second alternate position. Each parred the first playoff hole but Melampy would record a bogey on the second playoff hole to take the second alternate position.


The Standard Club hosted the second of two U.S. Amateur qualifiers in Georgia. The first took place July 24-25 at Capital City Club-Crabapple Course in Woodstock.


The 107th annual U.S. Amateur Championship will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., August 20-26. Entries were open to amateur golfers who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 2.4. The U.S. Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
