This was the first of two 36-hole sectional qualifiers in Georgia for the 2006 U.S. Amateur Championship. The Standard Club in Duluth will host the second qualifier July 31-August 1.

Piedmont Driving Club played to 7,028 yards and a par 71.

The 106th U.S. Amateur Championship will be held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn., August 21-27. Entries were open to amateur golfers who have USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 2.4. The U.S. Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
