Vanderbilt University golfer Lauren Stratton of Spring Hill, Tenn., earned medalist honors with a 2-under-par 70. She edged Kennesaw State golfer Ket Preamchuen of Kennesaw, Ga., by one stroke. Also qualifying for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship were Hannah Collier of Birmingham, Ala., (72), Alexa Rancourt of Portland, Maine (73), Yugene Lee of Athens, Ga., (74) and Brooke Pancake of Chattanooga, Tenn. (74).


There was a playoff among the three players tied for seventh (75) for the final two qualifying spots and first alternate position. Margaret Shirley of Athens, Ga., and Emma De Groot of Australia both birdied the first playoff hole to earn their way into the Championship. The 1998 U.S. Women's Mid-Amateur Champion, Virginia Grimes of Meridian, Miss., finished as first alternate.


Another playoff to determine the second alternate was held among three players who tied at 76. Mary Alice Murphy of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., claimed the spot with a birdie on the second playoff hole.


Ansley Golf Club – Settindown Creek played to 6,362 yards and a par 72.


The 111th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be held at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, R.I., August 8-14, 2011. Entries were open to female amateurs with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 5.4. The U.S. Women's Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
