Notes:
Mystery Valley Golf Club in Lithonia, Ga., which was playing as a 6,677-yard par-71 layout, hosted a 36-hole qualifier to determine three spots into the 2009 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.

Anders Albertson of Woodstock, Ga., a rising junior at Etowah High School, earned medalist honors by firing a 6-under-par 136 (68-68). Kyle Scott of Tallapoosa, Ga., secured the second qualifying spot, finishing two strokes back at 4-under 138 (67-71).

John-Tyler Griffin of Wilson, N.C., and Jordan Johnstun of Evans, Ga. played off for the final qualifying spot and first alternate after both players shot 139 over the two-day event. Halving each of the first two playoff holes, Johnstun -- who recently finished play for the Georgia Southern men's golf team -- then made par on the third playoff hole to secure the third and final qualifying spot. Griffin missed the green to the right with his approach and was forced to settle for bogey and the first alternate position.

Kyle Bearden of Barnwell secured the second alternate position by default after posting rounds of 71 and 69 for a 140 total.

The 84th annual U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship will be held at Jimmy Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla., July 13-18. Entries were open to amateur golfers who, since Jan. 1, 2009, have been bona fide public course players and have not held privileges of any course that does not extend playing privileges to the general public, or privileges of any private club maintaining its own course and hold a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 4.4. The U.S. Amateur Public Links is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
