Notes:
Billy Mitchell of Roswell, Ga. rolled his birdie attempt to a few inches and tapped in for par on the second playoff hole to capture the third and final spot in the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. Alpharetta's Eric Winter bogeyed to finish as the first alternate.


Kyle Beardslee of Auburn, Ala. made par on the second playoff hole to capture the second alternate position over Juan Carlos Perello of the Dominican Republic.


A total of 97 golfers competed at RiverPines Golf for three qualifying spots and two alternate positions. The event was one of 72 sectional qualifiers taking place across the country to determine the 144-player field.


RiverPines was set to play to 6,511 yards at a par 70.


The 81st annual U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship will be held at Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton, Wash., July 10 - 15. Entries were open to amateur golfers who, since Jan. 1, 2005, have been bona fide public course players and have not held privileges of any course that does not extend playing privileges to the general public, or privileges of any private club maintaining its own course and have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 8.4. The U.S. Amateur Public Links is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.


The Georgia State Golf Association conducts 18 statewide competitions for men and women of all age groups, three interstate matches and 17 USGA qualifying events each year. Other services include computerized handicapping, course rating and measuring, a summer-long junior sectional competitions program, Golf Georgia magazine and two college scholarship programs.
