Twelve-year-old Rinko Mitsunaga of Roswell, Ga., earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par 73 at her home course, Country Club of Roswell. Katy Harris of St. Simons Island, Ga., finished one stroke back at 74.

 

With identical scores of 76, four players competed in a playoff for the final three qualifying spots and first alternate position. Earning their tickets into the championship were Sloan Shanahan of Suwanee, Ga., Allison Emrey of Charlotte, N.C., and Ri Hyang Park of Hilton Head Island, S.C. Mariah Stackhouse of Riverdale, Ga., who has competed in two previous U.S. Girls' Junior Championships (2006 and '08), finished as first alternate.

 

Anna Kim of Chandler, Ariz., carded 77 and finished as second alternate in the standings.

 

Country Club of Roswell was set to 6,081 yards and a par of 71. A field of 42 players competed in the qualifying round.

 

Qualifiers advance to the 61st annual U.S. Girls' Junior Championship will be held at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., July 20-25. Entries were open to female amateur golfers who will not have reached their 18th birthday on or before July 25, and who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4. The U.S. Girls' Junior is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
