Four out-of-state golfers qualified for the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship at Braelinn Golf Club in Peachtree City, Ga. Sally Watson of South Queensferry, Scotland, was the medalist with a 69, edging Haley Wilson of Fort Mitchell, Ala., by a stroke. Mary Michael Maggio of Conway, Ark., and Evan Jensen of Belleair, Fla. tied for the final two qualifying positions at 71.
Reigning Georgia Girls' Champion Mariah Stackhouse of Riverdale shot even-par 72and won a playoff over Maria Imelda Isabel Piccio of the Phillipines for the first alternate position.
The 59th U.S. Girls' Junior Championship will be held at Tacoma Country and Golf Club in Lakewood, Wash., July 23-28. Entries were open to female amateur golfers who have not reached their 18th birthday on or before July 28 and who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 18.4. The U.S. Girls' Junior Championship is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
