Medalist Taylor Hall of LaGrange, 17, was the 2001 Georgia Junior Champion, Georgia PGA Junior Champion and national Junior PGA Champion. At the 2001 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, Hall advanced through two rounds of match play.

Two-time reigning Georgia Junior Champion Brian Harman of Savannah, who is currently ranked number one in the country, is exempted from qualifying, having finished as a quarterfinalist in the 2002 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
