Six of the seven qualifiers are from the state of Georgia, including medalist Scott Davenport of Marietta and former Georgia Amateur Champion, David Noll Jr. (2003) of Dalton.


Five players tied at one-over 71 competed in a playoff for the final qualifying position as well as first and second alternate. Rocky Costa of Alpharetta, Ga., earned the seventh and final qualifying spot on the second playoff hole. Mark Lyons of Mableton, Ga., grabbed the first alternate position while Alpharetta's Don Marsh settled for the second alternate spot.


Rivermont Golf and Country Club played to 6,840 yards and a par of 70.


Qualifiers advance to the 28th annual U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship will be held at Milwaukee Country Club in River Hills, Wis., September 6-11. Entries were open to amateur golfers who will have reached their 25th birthday on or before Sept. 6, 2008 and who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 3.4. The U.S. Mid-Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
