This is the second year in a row that Joe Inman of Marietta, Ga. has qualified for the U.S. Senior Open Championship.


James Mason of Dillard, Ga. and Bob Flanagan of Lawrenceville, Ga. also shot rounds of 70 but chose not to participate in the playoff for the second alternate position.
Newnan Country Club (6,873 yards, par 72) served as host for one of 42 sectional qualifying sites nationwide taking place from June 5-18.


The 28th U.S. Senior Open will be held at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wis., July 5-8. Entries were open to any professional, or any amateur with a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 3.4, who turns 50 on or before July 5. The U.S. Senior Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
