Her second-round 69 included six birdies, but also a double-bogey on the par-3 17th. Finishing one stroke back was Karen Stupples of England, 36, who shot 74-71 to finish 1-over 145.

Also qualifying and tied for third place at 2-over 146 were LPGA golfers Irene Cho of La Habra, Calif., and Stacy Prammanasudh of Enid, Okla., as well as FUTURES Tour player Sarah Lynn Sargent of Greer, S.C.

There was a three-woman playoff for the first and second alternate positions among those who scored 147 – 19-year-old professional Carmen Bandea of Atlanta, and amateurs Katie Burnett of Brunswick, Ga., and Jaclyn Sweeney of Bradenton, Fla. Sweeney, who plays golf at Arizona State, parred the first playoff hole to earn the first alternate position. Burnett, who plays at South Carolina, parred the second hole to secure second alternate.

Play was suspended for one hour, 10 minutes, from 3:53 to 5:03, due to lightning.
