Notes:
There was a three-woman playoff between Blair Lamb of Flat Rock, North Carolina, Jaclyn Sweeney of Bradenton, Florida and Whitney Wade of Glaskow, Kentucky to determine the final spot and the order of the top two alternate spots. On the first playoff hole, Sweeney sank a 20-foot putt for birdie to capture the final qualifying spot. Wade, who landed her approach shot on the back side of the green, converted her two-putt for par to capture the first alternate spot and Lamb bogeyed the hole to finish as the second alternate.


There was also a playoff for the third and fourth alternate positions played between Joan Delk of Alpharetta, Amanda Mathis of Picayune, Mississippi, Jean Reynolds of Newnan, and Kristin Price of Dandridge, Tennessee.Price and Mathis birdied the first playoff hole and Price went on to win the second playoff hole and take the third alternate position.


The course was set to 6,417 yards and played as a par-72. Qualifiers advance to the Sectional Qualifying Round, which consists of 36 holes of stroke play at one of nine locations around the country, being played June 12-13. The 61st annual U.S. Women's Open Championship will be held at Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I., June 29 - July 2. Entries were open to any female professional and to female amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 4.4. The U.S. Women's Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
