Notes
Bill Leonard of Kennesaw, Ga. and Emile Vaughan of Pike Road, Ala. finished as co-medalists at the USGA Senior Amateur Qualifier, and therefore automatically are in the Championship field. Leonard and Vaughan each fired a 2-under-par 70 score at Governors Towne Club in Acworth, Ga., on Monday.

The next five players on the leaderboard all came in at 1-under-par 71, so a playoff was needed to determine the final three automatic qualifying positions and the two alternate spots.

Two Georgians, Wayne Monroe of Breman and Dave Nichols of Roswell, and one Tennessean, Neil Spitalny of Chattanooga, survived the five-person playoff and claimed the final three automatic qualifying positions into the USGA Senior Amateur Championship. At last year's qualifier held in the state of Georgia (Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville), Spitalny again finished as one of the automatic qualifiers.

Brian Johnston of Duluth, Ga. was the first player eliminated in the five-person playoff, so he finished as second alternate. The first alternate position was then determined to go to John Davis of Atlanta, Ga.

Governors Towne Club was set to 6,629 yards and a par of 72. A field of 103 players competed in the qualifying round.

Qualifiers advance to the 57th USGA Senior Amateur Championship, which will be held at Kinloch Golf Club in Manakin-Sabot, Va., September 10-15, 2011 with a starting field of 156 players. Entries were open to amateurs who have reached their 55th birthday on or before September 10, and who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 7.4. The USGA Senior Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
