Notes:
Recent Georgia State graduate Tobias Rosendahl of Sweden earned medalist honors, coming in with a 3-under-par 68 in cold and very windy conditions at The River Club. Just four players shot under par in the 109-player field. Three Georgians – current collegiate golfers Anders Albertson of Woodstock (Georgia Tech), Cameron Simmons of Acworth (Akron) and Nationwide Tour pro Kyle Reifers of Atlanta – tied for second at 2-under 69.

Three other Georgia collegians also advanced to sectional qualifying, including Brian Carter of Augusta, Ga. (Univ. of Georgia), Oliver Schniederjans of Powder Springs, Ga. (Georgia Tech) and Mookie DeMoss of Duluth, Ga. (Mercer), along with pro Chris Devlin of Northern Ireland.

There was a playoff between two players who scored 73 to determine first and second alternate positions. Vanderbilt golfer Jordan Janico of Duluth, Ga., won with a par on the fourth playoff hole to earn the first spot over pro Lee Williams of Alexander City, Ala.

The River Club played to 7,089 yards and a par 71.

Sectional qualifying will consist of 36 holes of stroke play conducted at 11 sites in the United States, including Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground, Ga., on June 6. Qualifiers from The River Club may, but will not necessarily be, at that sectional qualifier.

The 111th U.S. Open Championship will be held at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., June 16-19. Entries were open to any professional and to amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 1.4. The USGA received 8,300 entries for this year's Championship, including entries from all of the 65 golfers who are currently fully exempt into the field. The USGA also received entries from golfers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and 66 foreign countries. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
