Reigning two-time Georgia Amateur champion and current University of Georgia golfer Russell Henley carded 73-64 for a 7-under-137 to earn medalist honors by five strokes. His second round included nine birdies.
Mark Silvers of Savannah, Ga., earned the second qualifying position after defeating Chris Epperson of Hilton Head Island, S.C., in a two-hole playoff. Both players came in at 2-under 142.
Lee Williams of Alexander City, Ala., secured the second alternate position, as Charles Frost of Charlotte, N.C., failed to show for a playoff. Both players shot 145.
Ansley Golf Club-Settindown Creek played to 7,212 yards and a par 72.
The 110th U.S. Open Championship will be held at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif., June 17-20. Entries were open to any professional and to amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 1.4. The USGA received 9,052 entries for the Championship, marking its second-highest total, just shy of the 9,086 entries received for the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park's Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
