Notes:
Professional and former Georgia Bulldog golfer Kevin Kisner of Aiken, S.C., shot 6-under 64 to edge current UGA golfer and reigning two-time Georgia Amateur champion Russell Henley of Macon by one stroke for medalist honors. Henley was the only amateur to advance to sectional qualifying.

There was a six-man playoff among those who scored 69 for the two alternate positions. Amateur David Holmes of Knoxville, Tenn., earned the first alternate spot with a birdie on the fourth playoff hole, while Michael Parrott of Roswell, Ga., got the second spot with a birdie on the fifth hole in near darkness.

Former Atlanta Braves pitcher John Smoltz turned in a 76 in his attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open.

Marietta Country Club played to 6,793 yards and a par 70.

Sectional qualifying will consist of 36 holes of stoke play to be conducted at 15 sites, including Ansley Golf Club-Settindown Creek in Roswell on June 7. Qualifiers from Marietta Country Club may, but will not necessarily be, at that sectional qualifier.

The 110th U.S. Open Championship will be held at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif., June 17-20. Entries were open to any professional and to amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 1.4. The USGA received 9,052 entries for the Championship, marking its second-highest total, just shy of the 9,086 entries received for the 2009 U.S. Open at Bethpage State Park's Black Course in Farmingdale, N.Y. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
