Jason Bohn of Acworth, Ga., broke the Settindown Creek course record by two shots with a 10-under-par 62 in the morning round, carding eight birdies and a chip-in eagle (No. 16, 542, yards). He came back with a 5-under 67 in the second round, carding his only bogey of the day at No. 9. Matt Kuchar of Atlanta, a former Georgia Tech golfer and U.S. Amateur champion who is also a member at Settindown Creek, posted 64-65 to tie Bohn.

Two Clemson University golfers – one past and one present – competed in a playoff for the third and final qualifying spot and first alternate position after tying at 10-under 134. D.J. Trahan of Reston, Va., a current PGA TOUR pro and former Clemson Tiger, carded a birdie on the third playoff hole to take the qualifying spot over Ben Martin of Greenwood, S.C., who is currently a member of the Clemson team.

Ted Potter Jr. of Silver Springs, Fla., picked up the second alternate spot at 8-under 136 (70-66). Bryant Odom of St. Simons Island, Ga., who also shot 136, did not show for a playoff.

Ansley Golf Club-Settindown Creek played to 7,078 yards and a par of 72.
