Notes:
Jason Dufner of Auburn, Ala. and Matt Kuchar of Atlanta, Ga. tied for medalist honors at 9-under-par 135. Dufner, a former member of the Auburn University golf team, and Kuchar, a former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket golfer, combined rounds of 67 and 68 on the day. This is the second year that Kuchar has qualified for the U.S. Open via Sectional Qualifying from the Atlanta area (last year, Kuchar qualified from East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta).


Lee Williams of Alexander City, Ala., also a former Auburn Tiger golfer who was a member of the 2003 and 2005 Walker Cup teams, carded two rounds of 68 to capture a spot in the U.S. Open Championship and Andrew Morse of Chesthill, Mass. fired a seven-under 137 to capture the fourth and final qualifying spot.


Steve Holmes of Gilbert, Ariz., is the first alternate having followed a 68 with an afternoon-round of 70. Tim Tang of North Charleston, S.C., the low amateur of the qualifier, finished as the second alternate.


Ansley Golf Club-Settindown Creek played to 7,119 yards and a par 72.


This was one of 14 sectional qualifiers worldwide which took place May 29, June 5 and 6.


The 106th U.S. Open Championship will be held at Winged Foot Golf Club in Mamaroneck, N.Y., June 15-18. Entries were open to any professional and to amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 1.4. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
