CARTERSVILLE, Ga. ---- Cres Dodd of Calhoun (right) and Greg Johnson of Cartersville teamed up to win the Georgia Four-Ball Championship at 20-under-par 196 (65-67-64). Tim Arnoult, Jr., of Decatur and Michael Morris of Marietta earned runner-up honors this week with a 17-under-par 199 (67-67-65) final score. The 43rd annual competition took place at Cartersville Country Club, April 25-27.

This victory marks the first time the duo finished on top and it happened at a familiar track as both Dodd and Johnson are members of Cartersville Country Club. The twosome tied for fifth at last year's Four-Ball Championship played at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Evans.

At the end of the 54-hole competition, 37 of the 41 teams who made the cut finished with a final score in red numbers. Thirty-two teams posted a final-round score under par as well.

Four teams tied for third at 16-under-par 200: Chad Branton of Cartersville and Justin Johnson of Canton (62-71-67); Alex Jones of Woodstock and Chad Wilson of Calhoun (66-65-69); Bill Faith of Eatonton and Poli Medrano of Greensboro (67-64-69); and Chase Jones and Tyler Mitchell, both of Chatsworth (66-63-71). Jason Fober and Cason Hammock, both of Columbus and 2011 Four-Ball champions, finished seventh at 15-under-par 201 (72-70-69). Cameron Hooper of Atlanta and David Noll, Jr., of Dalton (67-68-67), and Robert Garner of Newnan and Jason Kimpel of Sharpsburg (68-67-67), tied for eighth at 14-under-par 202. Rounding out the top 10 were two teams at 13-under-par 203: Bob Royak of Alpharetta and Robert Sheats of Atlanta (71-64-68), and Zane Goldthorp of Tucker and Robert Niedergall of Cartersville (70-62-71).

On Thursday, the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2015, and Four-Ball Championship competitor (and four-time winner of the event) Carter Mize of Columbus is part of this next class of inductees. This week he and his partner, Wright Waddell of Columbus, tied for 25th at 6-under-par 210 (72-67-71).

Forty-one teams at 2-under-par 142 and better made the 36-hole cut.

Entries were open to two-man teams of male amateur golfers who belong to a GSGA member club and are residents of Georgia. Teams with the lowest-combined USGA Handicap Indexes make up the field. The format is 18 holes of four-ball stroke play each day with the field cut to the low 40 teams and ties after 36 holes.

Cartersville Country Club is played to 7,067 yards and a par 72 for the Four-Ball Championship.
