Greg Kennedy of Atlanta and Reece Whitley of Smyrna teamed up to earn medalist honors and a trip to the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship. The duo posted a 5-under-par 67 at an 18-hole qualifier at Pinetree Country Club. David Noll, Jr., of Dalton and Cameron Hooper of Atlanta combined for a 4-under-par 68 to also qualify for the national championship.
A playoff was needed to determine the final qualifying spot and the first and second alternate positions. On hole one, the duo of Mike Cromer of Peachtree Corners/Dave Poteet of Suwanee made birdie to secure a spot in the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball. Michael Pearson of Atlanta/Christopher Shaw of Atlanta made par for the first alternate spot, and Christian Raynor of Kennesaw/Michael Gil of Atlanta made bogey to finish as second alternate.
Pinetree Country Club was set to 7,108 yards and a par of 72 for the qualifier. Qualifiers advance to the inaugural U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship, which will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif., May 2-6, 2015. The U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
