Jack Hall, Doug Hanzel Win Georgia Senior Four-Ball Championship

 

POOLER, Ga. --- Jack Hall and Doug Hanzel, both of Savannah, teamed up and won the Georgia Senior Four-Ball Championship at 23-under-par 193 (64-66-63). The 24th playing of this competition took place at both Savannah Quarters Country Club in Pooler and Wilmington Island Club in Savannah, November 11-13.

This was the first time Hall and Hanzel played as partners in this competition. The duo finished six strokes ahead of two teams who share runner-up honors at 17-under-par 199, including Chris Hall of Kennesaw and Donny Phillips of Suwanee (68-66-65) and James Kiely of Milton and Frank Remmes of Lilburn (64-68-67).

Three teams tied for fourth at 16-under-par 200, including Lee Dennis of Athens/Doug Stiles of Comer (67-67-66), Jeff Belk of Marietta and Mark Nickerson of Roswell (66-68-66), and John Gibbs and Ralph Ireland, both of Augusta, (66-67-67). Jack Kearney and John Landis, both of Peachtree City, finished seventh at 14-under-par 202 (71-69-62). Rounding out the top 10 of the Championship flight were four teams at 12-under-par 204 - Mel Mendenhall of Marietta/Larry Vaughan of Greensboro (69-67-68), Bill Leonard of Dallas/Don Marsh of Johns Creek (68-68-68), Phil Hardin/Gay McMichael, both of Macon, (67-67-70) and Bill Blalock/Don Russell, both of Atlanta, (66-67-71).

Over at Wilmington Island Club in Savannah, Andy Campbell and Stan Rowland, both of Canton, won the Senior division at 2-under-par 211 (74-70-67). In the Super Senior division, Frank Costanzo of Savannah and Thomas Rood, both of Savannah, claimed division honors at 10-under-par 203 (67-67-69).

Entries were open to two-man teams of male amateur golfers. Entrants must have been at least 55 years old on or before November 11, 2015. A maximum stroke differential of six strokes is allowed between partners. If the differential is more than six strokes, the higher index will be adjusted down to six strokes.

The conclusion of the Georgia Senior Four-Ball Championship marks the end to a successful 2015 competitions season.
