Rick Dubois, David Maddox Win Georgia Four-Ball Tournament

VALDOSTA, Ga. --- Rick Dubois and David Maddox, both of McDonough, held on to win the Georgia Four-Ball Tournament at 9-under-par 207 (67-69-71). The champions earned the one-stroke win over Bob Wilson of Johns Creek and Chris Wilson of Suwanee, who finished at 8-under-par 208 (66-71-71) in the runner-up spot. The 28th edition of this event took place at both Kinderlou Forest Golf Club and Valdosta Country Club, April 1-3.


Dubois and Maddox combined for three birdies and two bogeys in the final round at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. The runner-ups (B. Wilson, C. Wilson), who led the tournament after round one, posted four birdies and three bogeys for a 1-under final round.


With the victory, Dubois and Maddox also earned the top spot in the Championship flight, while the team of Wilson and Wilson earned the honor in flight one. Flight two was won by Edward Bannister and Michael Lott, both of Loganville, at 1-under-par 215 (68-78-69).


Last year's winners, Philip Hughes of Kennesaw and Matt Oxford of Rocky Face, finished this year at even-par 216 (71-73-72), good for eighth place in the Championship flight.


Flights three through five were contested 20 minutes down the road at Valdosta Country Club. Cameron Braig and Tyler Hogan, both of Atlanta, won flight three at 1-under. In flight four, Roy Lichlyter of Marietta and Kevin Malone of Atlanta won at 5-over. Charles Boyle of Atlanta and John Calvert of Stockbridge tied with Rush Berry of Lawrenceville and Mike Stephens of Buford at 9-over to share top honors in the fifth flight.


Entries were open to two-man teams of male amateur golfers who belong to a GSGA member club and have combined USGA Handicap Indexes of 4.0 and above and a maximum differential of six strokes. The Championship through second flights competed at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, while flights three through five played at Valdosta Country Club.  

 

Kinderlou Forest GC will play to 6,527 yards and a par 72 for the Championship through second flights.
Valdosta CC will play to 6,353 yards and a par 72 for the third through fifth flights.
