Elisa Yang Wins Georgia Top 60 Women's Classic

SUWANEE, Ga. --- Elisa Yang of Norcross turned in an even-par score in the final round to win the Georgia Top 60 Women's Classic by one stroke. The 35th edition of this competition took place at Laurel Springs Golf Club, June 29-30.

Yang's 3-over-par 147 (75-72) final score was one better than two players at 4-over-par 148, including Janet Mao of Johns Creek (76-72) and Kate Owens of Suwanee (69-79), who share runner-up honors. Mao, winner of the 2014 Georgia Women's Match Play Championship and that year's GSGA Girls' Player of the Year, currently plays golf at Northwestern University. Owens, the leader after posting a 69 in the opening round, earned her portion of the runner-up spot using knowledge of playing on her home track at Laurel Springs.

This was Yang's first title at a GSGA-sanctioned competition, but not the first time in the winner's circle. Yang recently defended her state championship title in the Class AA division for Wesleyan High School.

Lauren Lightfritz of Suwanee, who recently became a back-to-back winner of the Georgia Girls' Championship, finished fourth overall at 5-over-par 149 (76-73). Louise Yu of Duluth, winner of the Georgia Women's Match Play Championship, came in fifth at 6-over-par 150 (73-77). Two players tied for seventh at 8-over-par 152, including Harmanprit Kaur of Lawrenceville (77-75) and Gracie Henderson of Norcross (73-79). Christine McDonnell of Suwanee finished at 9-over-par 153 (79-74), good for ninth place. Rounding out the overall top 10 included a trio at 11-over-par 155 - Alexis Brindley of Marietta (80-75), Sarah Harrison of Martinez (77-78) and Tess Davenport of Buford (76-79).

This event was open to female amateur golfers who have a USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 15.0. The field is competing over 36 holes of individual flighted stroke play.
