Notes:
Bryan Fox, a professional from Alpharetta, posted the only score in red numbers at 2-under-par 70 to earn medalist honors at an 18-hole U.S. Open local qualifier at Jennings Mill Country Club in Watkinsville.

Ten players turned in rounds of 1-over-par 73, so a playoff was needed to determine the six other qualifiers and two alternates. Ryoto Furuya of Alpharetta, professional Tommy Stirling of Sarasota, Fla., Sawyer Mills of Easley, S.C., Jaime Lopez Rivarola of Argentina, professional Jacob Harper of Valley, Ala., professional James White of Acworth, Cody Proveaux of Lexington, S.C., professional Seth Reeves of Suwanee, professional Derek Rende of Chattanooga, Tenn., and professional Jonathan Cox of Marietta were divided into two groups and returned to the first tee for the playoff.

After the playoff, White, Rende, Mills, Lopez Rivarola, Harper and Furuya earned the final six qualifying spots.

Cox finished as first alternate on the third playoff hole (#1). On the second playoff hole (#9), Reeves made eagle to clinch the second alternate spot.

Jennings Mill Country Club played to 6,969 yards and a par 72.

The first 18-hole local qualifier in Georgia took place on Tuesday, May 10, at Planterra Ridge Golf Club in Peachtree City. Sectional qualifying will consist of 36 holes of stroke play conducted at two international sites (Japan and England) and 10 United States' sites on June 6, including Ansley Golf Club-Settindown Creek in Roswell. Qualifiers from Jennings Mill Country Club may, but will not necessarily be, at that sectional qualifier.

The 116th U.S. Open Championship will be held at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa., June 16-19. Entries were open to any professional and to amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 1.4. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
