Cartersville Country Club Wins Georgia Team Championship

 

STATHAM, Ga.  ---  Cartersville Country Club wins the Georgia Team Championship by posting the lowest score in the history of this competition at 22-under-par 338. This year's competition took place at The Georgia Club, October 29-30.


The winning foursome was made up of Chad Branton, Justin Johnson, Cameron Hooper and Kyle Hosick. Hosick recorded a 65 in the final round, and along with a 68 from Branton and a 72 from Hooper (the best three of four scores counted on Sunday), Cartersville Country Club claimed the victory. The win also marks the club's fourth in six years as Cartersville CC won in 2011, 2012 and 2014.


St. Ives Country Club, winners of the Georgia Team Championship last year, finished with runner-up honors this year. The foursome of Bob Royak, Scott Cunningham, Alex Bruggemann and Josh Upton finished at 9-under-par 351. Athens Country Club (Don Carpenter III, Keith Guest, Jr., Will Kahlstorf, Kyle Stiles) came in third at 8-under-par 352. Atlanta Athletic Club (Bo Burdette, Ryan Zabroske, Ryan Blackburn, West Streib) finished in a tie with Cartersville Country Club #2 (Chase Jones, Greg Johnson, Cres Dodd, Bill Faith) for fourth at 7-under-par 353. 


This event was open to four-person teams of male amateur golfers who are selected by their GSGA Member Club. The field of 30 club teams played one round of four-ball stroke play and one round of best of three of four individual stroke play.
