Notes:

Jason Dejiacomo of Big Canoe posted a 4-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors at an 18-hole local qualifier for the U.S. Open. A pair of other Georgian amateurs earned a qualifying spot to advance to sectionals, including Michael Pisciotta of Alpharetta (67) and Harrison Stewart of Roswell (68).

Two players finished at even-par 70, so a playoff was needed to determine the first and second alternate spots. Gallman went 3-4 on holes 10 and 11, respectively, to earn the first alternate spot. Mills went 3-6 over the same holes to finish as second alternate.

Stone Mountain Golf Club played to 6,833 yards and par 70.

The first 18-hole local qualifier in Georgia took place Monday, May 8, at Summer Grove Golf Club in Newnan. Sectional qualifying will consist of 36 holes of stroke play conducted at two international sites (Japan and England) and 10 United States' sites on June 5, including Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Ball Ground.

The 117th U.S. Open Championship will be held at Erin Hills in Erin, Wisc., June 12-18. Entries were open to any professional and to amateurs with USGA Handicap Indexes not exceeding 1.4. The U.S. Open is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
