Elizabeth Moon of Forrest City, Ark. posted a 6-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors and qualify for the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship. Four others earned spots in the national championship at an 18-hole qualifier that was held at Cartersville Country Club, including Lois Kaye Go of the Philippines (67), Ximena Gonzalez of Mexico (68), So Whi Kang of the Republic of Korea (70), and Ivy Shepherd of Peachtree City (71).
A playoff was needed to determine the two alternate spots. Louise Yu of Duluth made birdie on the first playoff hole (Hole #1) to grab the first alternate spot. Savannah Hylton made par on the second playoff hole (Hole #18) to secure the second alternate position.
Cartersville Country Club played to 6,239 yards and a par 72.
The 69th annual U.S. Girls' Junior Championship will be held at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta, Mo., July 24-29. The U.S. Girls' Junior is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
