Jessica Haigwood and Rinko Mitsunaga, both of Roswell, Ga., tied at 3-under-par 69 to share medalist honors at a 18-hole qualifier that was held at Ansley Golf Club - Settindown Creek in Roswell, Ga. The next three qualifiers were Kayla Jones of Alpharetta, Ga. (72), Natalie Srinivasan of Spartanburg, S.C. (73), and Grayson Gladden of Helena, Ala. (73).
There was a playoff for the final qualifying spot between Shannon Aubert of France and Emmy Martin of Odessa, Fla. who posted rounds of 74. They both made par on the first two playoff holes (Holes #1 & #7) but it was Aubert who birdied the third playoff hole (Hole #8) to secure the final qualifying spot. Martin will be the first alternate.
A playoff was also needed to determine the second alternate position. Three players posted rounds of 75, Kathleen Gallagher of Greenwood, Miss., Cammie Gray of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Victoria Huskey of Greenville, S.C.
They all made par on the first playoff hole (Hole #18). On the second playoff hole (Hole #1), Gray and Gallagher made par while Huskey made bogey and was eliminated. On the third playoff hole (Hole #7), Gray made a birdie to grab the second alternate position.
The 117th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship will be held at San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif., August 7-13. The U.S. Women's Amateur Championship is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
